A strong closing line can really make your act. Ian Varella gave me some tips that helped me to fashion mine, and it has been the boost that started getting some standing ovations. I only use it in certain settings though. The main thing is to thank the audience for allowing you to make them laugh. All of a sudden they realize you appreciated performing for them as much as they appreciated the comedy. I think that is the boost that pulls them to their feet in certain situations. They want you to realize they appreciated your efforts too.
